Through Lines

Throughlines is an ongoing research and design initiative that amplifies location-specific immersion of local narratives, sites, and phenomena. PsP works in partnership with The Practice of Democracy, and other local partnerships to co-facilitate each local engagement through research fellowships.

Throughlines is a bridge to the past, present and future. The platform is a living library and repository where learning, preservation, and visualization become an active practice of discovery. Participants explore interconnected topics across time, geographies, and scales to consider how people, places, and events shape the conditions and world we experience.

From systems of government like democracy, the evolution of land and property rights, to the forces that shape housing, or education, each engagement is told through evolving narratives, artifacts, and place-based experiences. Participants explore archival materials, artifacts, visual data, and oral narratives through exhibitions, a web platform, and immersive VR or 360 degree experiences. These tools make it easier to understand change over time, reflect on meaning, and connect people, places, and events.
